THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE

one of the best things in life? definitely knowledge and the ability to learn, but that's just me.

today, big sis and I were able to sneak in a little bit of thrift adventuring before and after taking the little ones to their dentist appointment, and let me tell you... successful yet again! okay, it's not even about clothes this time, or shoes. actually, I dropped any desire that I had for any clothing at the last thrift store we went to because something much more valuable came to my attention, and I was (for lack of any better words)- swept off my feet. ;)

don't judge me. or actually, judge me all you want because I'm proud of this! as of now, I can confidently say that this is probably one of my top favorite thrift store purchases, and sister knows that I came outta there feeling like dancing a million happy dances because I was so happy and excited.

oh that's right, not only did I score a totally awesome vintage globe (it's ready to join my room!), but I also scored more than half of the Life Nature Library collection from the 1960's (and you bet your bottom dollar I'm now out on a mission to find and capture the rest of the books)! these guys are total treasures, how could anyone ever pass them up? oh my goodness! thanks sister for bringing both the globe and the books to my attention.

the thing is, the hardcover books at the thrift store are normally $2 each, but the woman at the cashier gave them to me as a set- she charged me only $4.95 for ALL of them. can you believe it!? yeah, I couldn't believe it! when she said that, I had to back up and ask her to repeat herself because I wasn't sure if my ears were hearing the right information. yeah, $4.95 for ALL of them! I was freaking out and the woman at the cashier was so surprised by how happy and excited I got. she asked me, "why do you even want these!?" and in my head I was like, HOW COULD ANYONE NOT WANT THESE? (don't worry, I didn't shout that at her) no but seriously, these will one day be (if they aren't already) diamonds in the rough. they're definitely keepers, each one full of amazing information that I'm so excited to soak my brain with. I'm too excited, can you tell!? and in the words of Johnny 5- "more input"!

not to mention, my adventure partner is also gonna go bonkers (in a good way) when he sees what I got a hold of! he loves this stuff just as much as I do, if not more. and yeah, we're probably gonna have a date in the near future that consists of just the two of us and these books. I just know it, and thinking about reading through the books together makes me so excited I could pee. okay, I'll stop now, and I'll go ahead and start reading them.

oh that's right, who needs google when you've got books!? keepin' it OG.

& now, (when you study abroad) you can put a pin in all the places you visited on the globe! And hopefully one day soon, it will be full! (;

I am also a huge thrift lover, but I live in Costa Mesa/Newport area where much of the stuff is picked over. Mind sharing your favorite places to thrift? I'd love some suggestions of rad places to go!

lauren, I am often in the Newport/Costa Mesa area! there are actually a good few ones in Anaheim, if you're ever there. It's called "rewear wearhouse" and it's pretty good! You can also yelp a few, and you'll find some good ones in the area!

Richelle,
Thank you! I'll definitely check out rewear warehouse and browse around that area for some good thrift stores. My favorite place to thrift is in Long Beach, but I always love checking out new places that has unique finds!
