MY HAPPY JAR

say hello to my lovely little happy jar. :)

the other week, I was inspired by a conversation that I had with a few friends from work about what is called a happy jar? I thought to myself, "tell me more, I already like the sound of it". they explained to me how all you have to do is write down a memory that makes you happy every day of the year, then at the end of the year you can take out each happy memory and read over them one by one, which would definitely bring back smiles and remind you of good ole times that your brain might've misplaced as time passed. or! you can even open it up at anytime you're feeling down to remind you of all the happy times and blessings that God has so graciously given to you in this beautiful life.

as my friends were telling me about this idea, I already had an empty jar in mind that has been sitting in my room waiting to be used for quite some time now and I finally knew what I wanted to do with it... a happy jar! and I also knew that I wanted to keep it simple, so I just finger painted a heart onto one side of it with one of my favorite colors.

a happy jar!? genius. why didn't I think of that?
does anyone else have a happy jar or anything like it? I'd love to hear!

I want to make one! I love that bright little heart on yours. :)

I don't have a jar, but I do have a notebook where I write down little blessings God puts in my life. It's so fun to go back over the pages in the book and see what made me happy that day!

TOTALLY going to do this! and even tho it's almost the end of feb, I'll just keep it going until next feb! :) Plus, I feel like sometimes we can get so bogged down in Jan. with new goals and such, that this will be a nice 'habit' to just keep :) Thanks for the (simple, duh!) idea!

That's so funny you posted this b/c last night as I was laying in bed I thought about creating a strivings jar, where I'd write down all the ways I was trying to find fulfillment in things that won't fulfill or be like other people when I should just be myself. I guess the point of the strivings jar would have been to write those things down and be done with them, while the point of a happy jar is to remember blessings. Anyway, maybe I'll make both! Your happy jar is super cute!

there's a song i love by paul baribeau called '10 things' and after i heard it i started keeping a list of reasons why it's good to be alive hanging in my room. it's so nice to look back on them when i'm feeling down!
